System Design and Analysis

System Development Projects -  A  pioneer computer services company using paper forms to manage its business!

This was an actual true story and real project. University Business Machines started selling the original Apple computers out of the University of Pennsylvania book store at the dawn of the Mac in 1984. Two decades later, the company was still operating purely on paper forms for it's computer repair business. See the solution I developed to help them manage their repair records and their technicians.

System Analysis Projects - Consolidated Industries and OurOrganization

Consolidated Industries has made a bold move: they've decided to spin off their Vehicle Management Division, and turn it into a profit-making center, much like a commercial car rental agency. But how can they manage their cars, customers and reservations without impacting their bottom line?

This project is a three-part investigation into a possible new systems approach for Consolidated Industries, a fictitious mid-sized manufacturing company.

The Background Story This document details research of specific systems development factors for decision-making, and provides background information for a group of non-technical managers and users who will form part of the project team.

System Service Request

How does the Vehicle Management Center currently handle their information system needs? This document investigates current structures and factors involved in the development of a new system. A System Service Request is developed, and further investigation into the project is justified.

The second project is a discussion of the benefit of the fictitious OurOrganization moving some of it's software development in house.
