Support

My co-workers tell me this is definitely a role I excel in. When someone has a critical problem, I make myself available, day or night weekends and holidays  (within reason) to ensure they can get their work done.  I treat the business as my business.   But my role is much more than just keeping things running and being available to resolve problems.

In my previous job, I reduced phone system downtime from one hour a day to less than one hour a month. What started out as a workgroup of a dozen Windows XP home computers became a full-fledged Windows Pro network with 15 virtualized servers. And we relocated our entire operation to bigger buildings twice, with minimal downtime.

I've successfully brought enterprise-level tools and applications to a small business for next to nothing in additional cost.

In addition to dozens of more typical IT projects (such as hardware and software procurement, off-site data storage, telecom and the addition of an IVR system), I researched, selected and implemented vendors for:

  • live translation to non-English speaking patients

  • VPN and secure email remote access for clients to our system and for staff to work remotel and trained the staff on their use using communication materials of my own design.

I generated complex data output files and automated export for:

  • Emdeon (health insurance eligibility screening)

  • Sungard (health charity eligibility screening)

  • Experian (client's choice as consultant for operations)

  • and various daily / weekly client needs (account notes export, account updates etc.)

  • configured automated routines for complex file imports from clients and vendors

I wrote and created the 80 slide presentation that tipped the scales for the company to win the multi-million dollar contract for the accounts receivable of a 14 hospital Maryland health system. The presentation was complete with animation and embedded video I shot of the endorsements from three prominent health care administrators who are current clients.

I'm convinced that the "small-to-medium growing business" flavor of IT is the perfect fit for me.
